Showcase Event A Great Success

Yesterday, Monday 21st October, IHM Football Academy held its in-house Showcase Event for a total of 55 student players from all three schools: Abbey College Manchester, Ellesmere College and IH Manchester.

This year the event was held at the Armitage Sports Centre, a new venue for our Showcase Event. Director of Football, Mick Brennan enthused:

“The new venue works well for us, but as we expand we will need to have two or more 11 aside matches running at the same time. So, we now need to source a bigger venue for our April 2020 event.”

The day was a great success with scouts in attendance from the following local clubs:

Preston North End (Championship), Blackburn Rovers (Championship), Sheffield United (Premier League), FC United (Northern Premier League Premier Division), Stockport Town (North West Counties League Division One South), Salford City (League Two), Rochdale, Hyde United, Accrington Stanley, Morecombe and Atherton LR.

In addition, professional scouts from the International Professional Scouting Organisation (www.ipsofooty.com) were present and were taking notes on each player’s performance. Individual written reports will be provided to all players.

Also Frank Sinclair (pictured) was on hand to help put the young IHM players through their paces and lend his own experience of making it a s pro when young. Frank is a UEFA A qualified coach who had a wonderful career playing for Chelsea and for the Jamaican national team.

Mick Brenan concluded by saying:

“The level of play was really good from the majority of the players yesterday. The IPSO scout reports should be ready in a couple of weeks. If a club specifically asks for a player before then, we will contact them.”
