13 was definitely not unlucky for IHM Football Academy this week, following an emphatic 13-1 win over Macclesfield FC 2nds on Friday.

After the low of the previous defeat to Stalybridge, the team needed to come out with drive to turn that around and get back to winning ways, which they did in style. In a dominating performance from the whole team and an outstanding control of the game, IHM Football Academy calmly and ruthlessly saw out the game to claim their biggest win yet.

Controlling play in all thirds of the pitch, the Manchester side were lively down both sides, with countless over and under lapping play, straight from the training ground. This resulted in a myriad of crosses into the Macclesfield area.

Both Amir and Mo earned themselves hattricks, with a total of seven players on the scoresheet. The pick of the goals, and arguably a contender for goal of the season, already came from Kim, striking a thunderous volley from the edge of the area, which nestled into the top corner.

With top class performances all around the pitch, it was difficult to single out one player for praise. However, Arshia, starting for the first time in the side, was awarded Player of the Match for his simple two and three touch play in the centre of the park. Something that created so much space for the team and spread the play quickly.

Overall, an outstanding performance from all members of the team. Head of Football, Sam, said:

“An amazing day for us out there on the pitch and what a way to bounce back from the disappointment of the result, last time out. I can’t fault anyone out there today, they just clicked and it was lovely to watch.

Great to get Arshia in the starting 11 today and what a way to claim his spot, controlling the middle of the park. I think our play down the flanks today won that game for us, they just couldn’t cope with it, which is brilliant for me to see as a coach as we work a lot on that in training.

Just a great day for us, well done to all the lads”

The IH Manchester team will take that win into next week’s game, where they will have a chance to extend their dominance in the league.
