Venue: Away
Competition: Inter College league
IH Manchester football academy goal scorers: Kim

This afternoon the IHM Football Academy team travelled the short distance to the north of Manchester for a league fixture at Broadhurst Park 3G, to take on FC United of Manchester.

The game was considered to be one of the biggest challenges of the fixture list for the IHM players. FC United are a well-established and well-respected football club. FC United football is a spin-off from Manchester United FC. It is a club that is entirely owned by its fans and was founded in 2005. These fans were unhappy with the direction of their club under its new owners at the time. Having invested in football and built up the non-league side, they are now a force in football in north Manchester. Not only on the pitch, with the men’s first team, but with an established academy and college system, along with a fantastic community engagement programme.

It was a great experience for the players to travel to the stadium at Broadhurst, providing them with an introduction to the semi-professional side of the game and its facilities. The game was great one for both teams. The home side started strong and looked to be a well -organized and well- drilled team. However, the visitors impressed defensively and were solid at the back. As the game went on the wing backs from the travelling side were doing their job, getting high and creating chances with crosses into the box. It was, however, the home side that took the lead in the game.

Vittorio, one of the IHM goalkeepers, kept the game alive with some crucial saves early on. Then, with just 10 minutes to go, a carefully clipped ball from Ramsey, over the top of the home side’s back four, saw Kim run onto it. Kim then skillfully chipped the keeper to level the score and claim his first goal on his debut.

With a consistent and solid performance, Ramsey was the visitor’s Player of the Match, showing his experience and ability throughout the game.

The tie ended all square with the points shared.

Head of Football Sam said:
“A great game and solid performance from the lads. They worked hard today and put into practice everything we’d work on in training. Ramsey was solid and really led today.

Great for Kim to stamp his mark on his time here in Manchester. Hopefully, there will be more from him.

A fantastic trip away today, lots to be positive about and a glimpse of what’s to come.

They are a good side, and we matched them today in every area of the field.”

That’s now 2 league games unbeaten for the IHM Football Academy!
