Head Coach at IHM at Ellesmere College, David Raven, celebrates after scoring the winning extra time goal that took Inverness CT into the Scottish Cup Final in 2015

From Liverpool, David went up to the Scottish Highlands to play for Inverness Caledonian Thistle. Inverness were in the Scottish Premier League at the time and David spent 5 years of his playing career there. David looks back on this period of his career with particular fondness, citing it as his proudest moments after playing for Liverpool.

ICT played local rivals Ross County 17 times during David’s time there and “Caley” only lost on 4 occasions. In one of these fiercely fought derby games David scored the equaliser to bring the final score to 3-3. He says:

“The big games bring the best out of people, it requires your full commitment and focus.”

David’s fondest memory of this era was when he scored the winner against Celtic at Hampden in the 117th minute, deep into extra time, to take Caley through to the Scottish Cup final with a final score of 3-2.

It is this kind of experience, winning attitude and belief that make David ideally placed to coach and inspire the young IHM players he coaches every day.
