After the initial welcome, induction and formalities of arrival, it was great to get the players out on the pitch for their first coaching session as a group. Whilst waiting for a few more new arrivals in Manchester, a small number of the players were put through their paces by IHM Football Academy, Head of Football, Sam, and his team. It was a great opportunity for the coaches to start to assess the ability of the new players and see what they bring to the squad.
League games will start next week. By then, we will hopefully be able to welcome more players to the squad, as they all start to travel to the UK for the start of their programme.
The first few weeks will be very intensive as the players undertake pre-season fitness routines. At the same time, the coaches will try to start to form a team, ready for the league kicking off.
Head of Football at IHM Football Academy, Sam Launay, said;
“It’s great to get out on the grass with the lads finally. It seems like it’s been a long “close season”, waiting for the new players to come in and we are really excited about the season to come.
On first impressions, we have some talented players here who are really committed to the programme. A great attitude to see.
Wen added to the returning players for the season, I really think that we can not only have a good season in the league, but achieve some great outcomes for progression with each of the lads on an individual basis.”
Over the duration of the season Sam will not only be working with the group to form a competitive team, but looking at individual development and helping each student player to grasp any progression opportunities that may come their way.
