Head Coach David Raven Shares Wayne Rooney Memory as IHM at Ellesmere Win Again

As we move through the term, there are two more victories to report from IHM at Ellesmere College, under the stewardship of Head Coach David Raven.

The first was a friendly match on Friday 4 October when a younger team did very well against SGI winning 7-3. Despite the scoreline David described the game as very competitive. Very well done to all involved.

The second was a Shropshire League match away against Newtown College on Wednesday 2 October which led to a 7-0 win. David proudly referred to the game as “a really good display”.The team are doing very well in the league at present. Long may it last!

It was whilst the team were playing at Newtown College that a particularly precious memory came flooding back to David. He recalled the time, as a school boy, he led out the England u15s as Captain, when they played on the same pitch against Wales. David refers to it as one of his proudest moments. He added:

“A certain young player called Wayne Rooney was on the bench and made his debut and scoring in a 1-1 draw.”
