Rasheeq is aged 18 years and comes from Malaysia. He has been enrolled on the A level course at Abbey College Manchester since September 2018. Rasheeq accepts that studying for 3 A levels with classes and tutorials every morning and course work and essays to complete in the evening leaves little time for much else. However, Rasheeq is managing to balance this work load and also train full-time and play matches at IHM Football Academy.
Abbey College Manchester also offer the university foundation programme, as an alternative to A levels, with an option to also enrol on the IHM football academy. Abbey student players attend classes each morning from Monday to Friday and then are transferred to the football training ground every afternoon for professional football coaching from 2 to 4 pm, led by the IHM coaching team, headed up by UEFA qualified coach and Sport Science graduate, Matt Lowe.
This gives young student players the best of both worlds. They can dedicate themselves to being the best that they can be at football and see how far they take their game, but this can be done without compromising their education. All IHM players must have a Plan B. All professional football players today have a Plan B as they are well aware that they must prepare themselves for an alternative career once their professional playing days are over.
