IHM Football Academy are excited to announce that tomorrow, during our scheduled training session, we will host some current Championship players. These players will be leading the session as part of their coach education programme with the PFA (Professional Footballers Association). IHM have proudly provided players over the past few seasons for the PFA coach education programmes. Notable professionals such as Peter Schmeichel, Quinton Fortune and Michael Carrick have previously been down to the training sessions to lead the coaching sessions with the players. This week it’s the turn of one of the current top Championship sides to send along their players to IHM, in order for them to complete their practical assessment as part of their course.

Mick Brennan, Director of Football said:

“Once again this represents a fantastic opportunity for all the players on the IHM football academy programme. The relationship that we enjoy with the coach education department at the PFA is marvellous. Just a few weeks ago we were able to go along to one of the Manchester United training facilities to take part in a programme, and tomorrow we will have some top players from the English Championship at our training ground to lead the session. I think the PFA see the professional attitude and discipline of our players and the great standard we now have as strong reason for completing this practical coaching at IHM. So, they are always happy to use IHM players for these type of sessions to help the current professionals move on in their career. Having pro players of this standing at the IHM training ground and in contact with our young players is a great example to them. It not only gives our players a great opportunity to showcase their ability, but also to talk to the players about life as a professional footballer and their personal journneys to the top.”

The sessions are due to take place on Wednesday afternoon, depending on the players schedule with their club. Follow our social media channels for a full update on the afternoon.
